Get ready, get set, pursue your hoppiness! Pennsylvania is home to more than 350 breweries producing more than 3.6 million barrels of craft beer annually, ranking first in the nation. While we’re home to big brewers in our cities, we love a good hidden gem. Our small towns are also creating brews while offering some local flair and a respite from the hustle and bustle. Get ready to raise a glass to some of Pennsylvania’s charming small towns that are crafting some big flavor brews. 1. LOGYARD BREWING

Kane

Enjoy world-class craft beer at Logyard Brewing, in the Black Cherry (hardwood) capital of the world ­— Kane. Logyard specializes in hyper-local ingredients native to the area. Their distinct flavor profiles range from Black Birch to Black Cherry. On Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, stop by the Brewpub and Taproom for drinks and locally-sourced food.

2. MORTALS KEY BREWING COMPANY

Jamestown

In Jamestown, near Pymatuning State Park, Mortals Key Brewing Company was created by artists who came together on a small farm with a desire to create beer like no other. Mortals Key represents the belief that each of us has a destiny to unlock, and the artists behind the brewery unlocked their passion for making beer. Sip on recipes from the Old World and small batch brews that use only the finest ingredients. Beer not your thing? Lago Winery is also onsite.

3. VOODOO BREWING

Meadville | Grove City | Erie | State College

Voodoo Brewing’s original location is in Meadville, but they’ve expanded to several locations across the state. Voodoo has staple ales, lagers, and IPAs, but they also have some sweet seasonal brews that show off their quirky personality with names like Hoodoo, Voodoo Love Child, Good Vibes, and Killapilz.

4. COAL COUNTRY BREWING

Ebensburg

Coal Country Brewing is a family-owned and operated brewery that celebrates the region’s coal mining history while serving delicious beer in Ebensburg. Most of their brews feature coal-themed names, such as Pick and Shovel . Brewing is done on-site where customers can see the process firsthand, and the bar even contains real central Pennsylvania coal for an authentic touch.

5. SHY BEAR BREWING

Lewistown

Inspired by a Pennsylvania black bear hiding behind a tree on their rustic ridge property, Shy Bear Brewing is a 10-barrel brewhouse in Lewistown, creating innovative beer while serving an equally iconic menu. When the weather warms up, soak in the beauty of the area on the brewhouse’s patio, where they feature live music during the summer.

6. RUSTY RAIL BREWING COMPANY

Mifflinburg

On a mission to create a brewery their hometown of Mifflinburg can be proud of, Rusty Rail Brewing Company pays homage to the hardworking hands of the town’s railroading industry. Home to Pennsylvania’s largest brewpub, beer lovers can find a great brew, even better food, live music, and a superb game room filled with pool tables, shuffleboard, darts, and board games. 7. WYNDRIDGE FARM®

Dallastown

In the windswept hills of Pennsylvania, you’ll find Wyndridge Farm, a historic American farm that produces some of the best craft beer and hard cider you will find! Wyndridge’s 30-barrel automated brewhouse has a 30,000 barrels-a-year fermentation capacity. The farm’s restaurant features a nature-inspired menu alongside its signature beers and ciders. 8. NOBLE STEIN BREWING COMPANY

Indiana

Created by two homebrewers that started in a garage, Noble Stein Brewing Company has over 10 beers on tap in their Taproom in Indiana, PA. Whether you’re looking for an IPA, hefeweizen, stout, or a witbeir, Noble Stein has the perfect brew to quench your thirst. And if you’re hungry, they have food trucks serving up perfect pairings.

9. LEVITY BREWING

Indiana

Also in Indiana, PA, Levity Brewing received first place at the 2019 Pennsylvania Farm Show in the Mixed Fermentation Category. It’s Hoplicated, Low Expectations, and Spel Czech are just a few of the wittily named beers. If you’re looking for something new, the R&DX Series brings in new IPAs regularly. And don’t forget to order some appetizers or a sandwich while you’re drinking with your fellow Happy Travelers.

10. BARLEY CREEK BREWING COMPANY

Tannersville

When in Tannersville, stop by Barley Creek Brewing Company, the Pocono Mountains’ original brewpub, for a brewing and tasting tour. After the tour, enjoy some barbeque and a round of wiffleball at the Pint Size Park and Biergarten

Bonus: Barley Creek also has an on-site distillery, so you can bring some vodka, whiskey, or moonshine home with you.

11. BANGOR TRUST RESTAURANT & BREWERY

Bangor

Bangor Trust Restaurant and Brewery is a family-owned and operated nanobrewery and bakery in Bangor. Bangor Trust brews beer on-site in a four-barrel brew house with open fermentation and organic ingredients, most which are locally sourced.

12. BERWICK BREWING COMPANY

Berwick

Opened in 2008, Berwick Brewing Company is one of the oldest brew pubs in the area. They have as many as 20 beers on tap at a time, which includes Berwick’s own flagship brews like Red Bank Dark Lager, Front Street Wheat, and Berwick Lager. And what better complement is there to your beer than pizza? Berwick Brewing serves pizza made with King Arthur flour and some of the tastiest cheese around. In warmer weather enjoy the Beir Garten which overlooks the majestic Susquehanna River.

13. HELLTOWN BREWING

Export

Just 20 miles east of Pittsburgh in Export, Helltown Brewing, formerly known as Rivertowne Brewing, has a taproom complete with 17 taps serving both Helltown and Rivertowne beer. Their sustainable packaging is also perfect for at home, a day at the ballpark, or a lazy float down the river drinking what else but the brewery's signature IPA, Day Float. No matter which brew you choose, the can designs (which draw inspiration from Pittsburgh’s three rivers) are sure to spark your inner outdoor enthusiast.
